FPT Rapidly Deploys FaceID Solution for VNExpress Midnight Marathon 2022

The FPT.FaceID facial recognition technology was successfully implemented at the 2022 VNExpress Midnight Marathon, enhancing the experience for thousands of athletes participating in the event. This implementation represents a significant advancement in the application of technology for large-scale sporting events in Vietnam.

FaceID is an image search technology based on facial recognition, capable of performing both one-to-one and one-to-many facial comparisons with high accuracy rates. This technology has practical applications across various sectors, including banking and finance, retail, and transportation. Developed by FPT's team of experts, the FPT.FaceID solution demonstrates exceptional real-world performance, capable of searching for one face among 2.3 million faces in just 0.7 seconds. Given their confidence in the product and previous experience, FPT successfully implemented FPT.FaceID for the VNExpress Marathon Hanoi Midnight 2022 in merely two days, achieving a successful launch.

Following VNExpress leadership's decisive initiative to incorporate FaceID technology into the VNExpress Marathon Hanoi Midnight 2022 (held on the night of November 26 and early morning of November 27), FPT's expert team immediately seized this unique opportunity. On the afternoon of November 23, FIS and VNExpress held an intensive meeting, where both parties committed to proceeding with the project despite the extremely tight timeline.

Through tireless effort, three passionate engineers worked nearly continuously for two days to achieve their well-deserved success. FPT.FaceID completed successful testing on November 25, and on November 26, the solution officially went live on the VNE website: https://vm.vnexpress.net/.

"Our greatest challenge was the extremely compressed implementation timeline," shared Mr. Chinh, a project team member, who expressed his excitement about the project's success. "We were fortunate to receive substantial support from both organizations' leadership. This meant we had to execute flawlessly during implementation. The entire team was particularly anxious on launch day, as this marked FPT.FaceID's inaugural project. The successful activation of the solution brought immense satisfaction."

The implementation of FPT.FaceID at the VNExpress Marathon Midnight 2022 enables runners to efficiently locate their event photographs. The system incorporated 100,000 searchable images using facial recognition after November 26.

The VNExpress Marathon Hanoi Midnight 2022, part of the VNExpress Marathon series, stands as Vietnam's largest and most prestigious running event.
